5.2 is coming this week. We're going to hit the ground running!
We're currently recruiting for a guild healer with a dps OS as well as a plate dps. I will be returning to the basics in building the guild. I will be updating the site more often, often reflecting the facebook group. There will also be more aggressive recruiting. I miss having a full guild window everynight, and I'm sure everyone else does too! I'd also like to begin a second raid group, as well as an RBG team. Challenge modes will also be addressed.
There will be more to come, but I'll be posting some 5.2 vids in the forums.

Hey all,
Just wanted to clear some things up about what's happening with raiding in the guild. For those who are unsure, we currently have one 10-man raid group with all spots currently assigned. This raid group is run like a progression raid group for the most part, with higher-than-average expectations for DPS, raid awareness, and class knowledge such as reforging and the like. In its current state, the only way that anyone will be able to raid with this group is as a backup raider if one of the 10 assigned members is unable to make it. Please note that if you are unable to fulfill the minimum expectations in this group, we will (kindly) ask you to step out and try to find someone else. It's essential that everyone understands the purpose of this group - progression.
That being said, we are currently building a second raid group which will also have 10 designated members. The requirements for this raid group will not be as steep as our core 10-man group, but there are some basics that we'll expect:
1) In 10 man raiding, every raider is accountable. It is far easier to carry someone not pulling their weight in a 25 man than it is in a 10 man environment, and for that reason we will expect you to pull the average, or close to it, DPS for the tier of content that we're raiding. For instance, DPS in Firelands should be between 17-20k, with 15k being an absolute minimum. For Dragon Soul, 20k is the absolute minimum and anything higher is a plus.
To give you an example of the logic behind this, we'll take a look at Ultraxion. In 10 man normal mode, if you run 2 tanks, 2 healers, and 6 DPS, all 6 of your DPS have to be doing 21k at a bare minimum or you will not beat the enrage timer. The same DPS limitations apply to several of the bosses in DS, especially Zon'ozz and Blackhorn. Learning a boss is one thing - nobody is going to know exactly what to do on their first time in a boss encounter, so a learning curve is completely understandable.
Jon (Aresdiety) will be handling most of the organization for this group, and if you have any questions about expectations, please feel free to ask him.
Again, this group will be nowhere near as strict as the core raiding group, which in itself is nowhere near as strict as a hardcore raiding guild. I recommend that you read up on your class as much as possible on elitistjerks.com, check your reforges and enchants on askmrrobot.com, or feel free to ask anyone in the guild for assistance and we'll be happy to help you as best we can. If your DPS isn't up to par, there is a sizeable list of things that you could be doing wrong, from rotation to stat weights - research and trial and error are the best methods for fixing these problems.
We also don't want to stack all of our good raiders in one group and leave the second group high and dry, but it was also essential that we leave room in the second group to get new people in and started raiding, so we've moved a couple of people around to try to find a nice balance. Please see our (tentative and subject to change) current rosters for both raid groups below:Progression group - Leader: Mnemosynea
Tank 1: Hash
Tank 2: Eolwynd
Heal 1: Cynova
Heal 2: Hatrix
DPS/offheals: Saffyre
DPS: Reznorr
DPS: Autechre
DPS: Nummynum
DPS: Aresdiety
DPS: Mnemosynea
2nd group - current leader: Aresdiety (on castiglione)
Tank 1: Castiglione
Tank 2: Khairt
DPS/healer: Verjin ( Undecided, Heals on Keltraz or DPS on Lideun)
This leaves seven open spots in the second group that will be chosen fairly. Raiding days and times for the second group will be discussed as a group once the spots are filled.
And finally, please note that old content raids, up to T11, will still be open sign-up and we'll still have plenty of activities for everyone not interested in raiding. Please don't hesitate to whisper myself, Nemo, or Jon with any questions. We'll be happy to answer them. :)
Happy hunting,
-Rez

Some basic rules we have are as follows:
- Don't be a funsucker! World of Warcraft is a game - most of us are here to have fun, and enjoy ourselves, or relax after a hard day's work.
- Don't be disrespectful! Disrespect is not something anyone likes and we don't tolerate it.
- Absolutely NO remarks, slurs or derogatory comments about race, creed, gender, sexual orientation, or religion. We have a zero tolerance policy for this and you will only receive one warning before being removed.
- Don't be a spammer/beggar. Spamming/begging is not something that is looked upon or encouraged. We like to do things as a group, but if you really can't find someone after the third or fourth time you've asked in the guild, it may be time to bring in a pug.
- This is a mature guild. If you're underage and worried about bad language, please turn on your profanity filter. Blizzard gave it to us for a reason and we are encouraged to use it, and it will help keep out the occasional dirty word that can slip into guild chat.
Happy hunting,

Happy Tuesday downtime everyone. :)
This is a post to inform you that I'll be starting a late-night progression 10-man raid group. This group will be treated exactly like a hardcore progression guild - I'll be posting a forum topic listing expectations and rules at a later date. The days of the week are still TBD, but will probably start around 10 server. This group is being created to address a number of issues that I'll list below:
1) There's a growing number of people in the guild who would like to be a part of something like this. While our current core group has been largely successful, there have been some roles that change from week to week.
2) There's a group of active late night players who are possibly being left out of the raiding scene because they can only be on late at night. Since this is going to be a progression group, it won't necessarily be able to include everyone, but it will make it possible to include some late-night players.
3) This will further diversify our raid groups and ultimately give guildies who are having trouble finding raid spots a better chance at getting into a group. This effectively gives us three raid groups to work with: one led by Nemo, one led by Ares, and one led by myself.
I'm still looking for spots to fill in this group and there are some scheduling kinks to work out, but for right now I know that I'm looking for 1 tank, 2 healers, and at least 1 RDPS. I'll clarify rules and expectations in a topic at a later time, but for now, I'll be looking for the following:
1) Exceptional raid awareness. This isn't just limited to not standing in fire, although that's a big part of it. Raiders will need to know every boss fight inside and out and at least be familiar with the responsibilities of every role.
2) Gearcheck. This means absolutely no PvP gear, unenchanted (or underenchanted) pieces, ungemmed slots, and improper reforging.
3) A minimum of 20k single-target sustained raid boss DPS unbuffed. This means that on a target dummy using only buffs that you can provide yourself, 20k is the minimum. I don't care if your item level is slightly lower than the norm provided that you can adequately meet your role's expectations.
Above all, I need to stress that this will be treated like a progression group. You will need to be able to take (constructive) criticism, and if you are asked to sit out because you are underperforming, you need to not take it personally. On the contrary, if being a part of this group is something you wish to do but you're not quite there yet, then improving your raiding is something to reach for, and as always, we'll be happy to help you every step of the way.
Please feel free to whisper me in game with any questions or concerns. Happy hunting. :)

So this gear that we hunters are going to be getting makes us look like a dried bull skull. I kinda like it, we are death incarnate....from afar. I heard there are going to be some modifications to the gloves and bracers, mostly just to make them look more as one piece.
The pieces, like other T12 pieces, are probably going to be dropped by the more difficult raid bosses, like Deathwing. This is, as always, a double edged sword. We have to work hard to get the pieces, but its sweet jubilation when we finally get the gear.
I for one am excited about the new gear coming out. So much for transmogs, hunters have awesome gear. More news to come as it comes out.

It's been a while since there's been a site update, but we're taking the steps to make this a bit more active. As of this writing, we have completed the T11 content, netting us our Dark Phoenix Mount! We are also 1/7 in the Firelands, as well as #10 on the server when it comes to Achievement points. There is so much to be proud of, and you all made it possible.
Going forward, we are going to start being more selective with new recruits. Invites will go to officers only as we set up the application process once again for the guild. I think we can all agree that we want to weed out the troublemakers and beggars before they get a chance to make life in the guild unpleasant. If you have a friend that wants to join, please direct them to the site, and there will be a spot to put yourself as a 'reference' for that person.
We've also streamlined the officer position, and I will be posting in the forums who the officers are, along with their alts. There will be certain class officers (that I will post), so if you have any questions about that class/spec, then that is the officer that you should be speaking with. They'll be there to help you.
I will be updating our code of conduct. We will be moving to a 2-warning system. If there is something that absolutely should not be in guild chat, an officer will direct you to stop or take it to whispers. If you become directly argumentive with an officer, or continue on, there will be a second warning. If that is not enough, you will be removed from the guild. I leave this to the discrection of my officers.
On to a lighter note, the calendar should start to fill up again. We have some of our officers taking on retro raiding, holiday events, special guild events, raiding, as well as a pvp team. I would like to point out that I am looking for a PVP officer. One that can recruit a rated BG team and manage the Arena teams. I know there are PVPers in the guild, and I want them to feel included.
This guild is over 2 years strong, and I hope that some of the quality of life changes we are making helps continue that for as long as WoW goes on!

WOW! Level 25! What a long, strange trip it's been, eh?
While many guilds on our server had momentum from the beginning of Cata but slowly fizzled out, you all have still been riding the wave! Pushing the guild to higher ground while you raid, quest, experience new classes while leveling alts, and helping out your fellow guildies through older content. I'm so proud of all the work you've done to get the guild where we are at!
With Patch 4.2 we get a lot of new dailies and fun to do, but don't forget, T11 has been nerfed, so we need to go in there and finish what we started! That will make it all the more easier for us to get into the Firelands and be successful there! I am going to start scheduling raids, and if I don't have enough for a guild raid, I will PUG. I've talked with the guild leaders of Sane Asylum, and we may be able to do a little crossover in the raids so that we don't have to do straight unknown puggers. I'm also looking for a dedicated raid leader. I do what I can, but it's going to help if there is someone other that myself to run raids.
We're taking a guild photo tomorrow night, be there!!!

GREAT JOB!!!!
Last night we finally brought down Halfus! Not only that, we almost had him in one shot! A few people walked away with some good upgrades last night as well... the WoW gods shined on us!:P
Also, a pre-emptive gratson LVL 23! The cap is officially gone! We can chug our way right up to 25!
Just a short reminder:
To raid, be fully enchanted and gemmed with an ilvl of 345... I had a few last night missing enchants and gems I will be checking gear next time. :D
Y'all make me so proud! This crazy little family called Lords of the Sun is moving on up! I had it up as a guild message, but when it comes to guild level and achievements, Lords of the Sun is top 20 on our server (including Horde!)! And now we are 1/12, we can only go up from there! Thank you all for making this guild the best place to be on Dawnbringer... I'm honored to run with all of you!

First of all, congratulations to everyone! We've hit 17 and are well on our way to hit 18 in a couple of days. Everyone has worked really hard, and it shows!! You all make me proud to be your GM :D
I wanted to delve into raiding a bit more. As we are seriously heading into raids, it's time to become serious about it. Let me start of by saying we are a casual raiding guild. By this I mean no one is required to raid, as we are not a progressive raiding guild, but if you do decided to come to raid, you will come prepared as a raider. The officers and I have come up with a few base rules for signing up for raids. These rules will be in place, to ensure success, to make sure we aren't bringing players who aren't quite ready, and to keep order so that people who do follow said rules don't get left out.
That being said:
1. Avg. ilvl of 346. If you are raiding, you will be heroically geared. Now, the excuse has been made that if you're pulling the dps, or tanking fine, or healing amazingly ilvl does not matter, I agree. This comes down to simple surviveability. If you have the higher gear, you have the HP to sustain the LARGE amounts of incoming damage that we will be taking and our healers can be more effective. Also, make sure your gear is enchanted, gemmed, and reforged properly. (For guidance, check out askmrrobot.com)
2. DPS must pull 10k minimum. If you have the above requirement, it may be time to check out your spec or rotation. If you have questions, as the guild memebers. If we don't play your class, we will read up on it as much as we can in an effort to help you out.
3. In order to be taken along after meeting the above to requirements, you will be present and ready to be invited 15 min prior to raid time. That means earlier that day or week or hour, pick up your buff food, check the gbank and AH for flasks, and when 15 min hits you are on your toon and ready to roll. I will fill the raid as you are on. In the case of BWD, I need one tank, 2 melee, 4 ranged, and 3 healers. So, when 15 minutes hits, I will take the players who fit those roles that are on first and ready to go. If you have something going on that night in RL that will make you late or cause you to cut something short to make it on time... don't panic please. Enjoy what you're doing in RL, as this is a game and shouldn't come between you and your friends or family or your responsibilites. There is always next week. Continue to sign up, so that I know who to expect and hopefully plan accordingly, but I will not be looking at sign up times. It's not fair for guidies who maybe only get on the weekends and signs up the day before only because thats the only time they are on.
If these sound harsh, remember, we don't require you to raid, but we do want to progress somewhat. If we go in week after week and just wipe over and over again, we're just crazy. With gear requirements reach out to the crafters in the guild, we'll do what we can to get you in the high level pieces we craft. If you need to run heroics, run them! We schedule heroic nights, no one should be running them alone if they can help it. Also, with patch 4.1 dropping, the Valor cap for heroics is now weekly, so if you're not on all week, you can still stock up on your VP in a couple of days instead. Farm volatiles, as every crafted piece needs it. We'll try to hit BoT trash runs in the mid week to help gear people. Also with the new 5 man dungeons, it will drop some more loot to bridge that gear gap.
Eventually, we'll down these raids. When they become easier, we'll try to get an alt run to bring more guildies in, but until then, this is how we will operate the raids so that they are fair to everyone, yet still progress.

Been a while, but we've just been moving right along!
Current incentives are still in place.. we are almost to our first profession achieve, Go Miners!!
We've been downing older content for Guild Achievements, and in our latest MC run a piece of Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros dropped! Eduina has picked up the Eye of Sulfurus, so we'll try to run MC every week to pick up the items necessary for it. Also, in light of the Black Drake mount drop from OS3D, we'll try to run that one every week to so we all get our mounts!!
Also wanted to point you to a really neat website! It's called Ask Mr. Robot. It pulls your toon from the armory, let's you know what items you have that are best in slot, and where to get the ones you need. It will also show you which enchants, gems, and how to refore to optimize your gear.
We have some upcoming Big Bro nights and some more old school raids to hit, but we're finally got hit up Bastion of Twilight next Friday... so get ready!!

We're well on our way up to some fantastic guild perks!
As you can tell, we've got a lot more events popping up on the calendar! Some staples are going to include:
Rep Run Mondays - We're going to take a different faction every Monday and get a group (or groups) to run dungeons for rep. Perks to this? Faction Rep and achievements for you as well as Guild XP and a work up to the United Nations Guild Achievement.
Big Bro Nights - Dungeon running for our lower levels. Stockades, Deadmines, and Scarlet Monastery. I'll only need 3 high levels to volunteer to run the dungeons.. they'll pass on all loot so that everything goes to our little bros :)
World Event Nights - In line with world events, we'll take a couple of the achieves and make a night where the guild will focus on them. For example, last night we planned an event to take out Omen for the Lunar Festival Quest. We'll run it again for those who missed it.
Raids - We're going to have raids, mostly Friday and Saturday nights for the new content, spotted during the week for old world raids. When hitting new content I will try to post a thread in the forums about the fight, strats, and links to videos.
Take screenshots!!! We'll put any and all event pics up on the site, feel free to create your own albums as well!
Current Incentives!
Gatherers : There's a gathering acheive for each of our gatherers. First to hit the achieve, we'll take all the active toons in that profession, and pick a random name to win a prize. There will be a prize for each acheive when hit, just will go down from there.
First place : A rare pet and 250g
Second place: 100g
Third place: 50g
Critter Kill Squad!
When we hit the Critter kill squad achieve, the guild will buy 5 Armadillo pups (the guild reward unlocked by this achieve) and pick 5 random active guildies to give them to!
I would like to give a shout out to Onikuro, who had joined our Officer rank! I have yet another wonderful leader who takes pride in helping the guild in any way he can.
Also, I'd like to welcome Wikling, Knikee, Grimumbrage, Ivomagus, Ryot, and Aresdiety to the Knight rank! We take down Arthas on Friday and then on to BWD!

Well, the expansion is here and we're well into it. The guild has already hit Level 5! Great work everyone! We'll hopefully get the forums rolling again, but in the mean time we have revamped the guild ranks as outlined below:
Squire - Intro rank.
5g daily repairScout - This rank is purely based on guild activity, how much you're contributing by playing
10g daily repairNoble - This rank is based on how interactive you are. Are you participating in guild events? Actively helping guildmates? Chatting up the forums?
20g daily repairKnight - This rank is for confirmed Raiders. To make this rank, you will run heroics with the officers. If you know your class, can follow directions, and can take constructive criticism, you're raid ready and will be promoted to this rank. We will be pulling the raid invite list from this rank.
100g daily repairLaird/Lord - Officer Rank
100g daily RepairAlt - Self - Explanatory, same permissions as squire rank
Jester - Officer Alts, same permissions as Laird rank.Don't hesitate to ask any questions and see y'all in game!!

Hello Everyone:Like to take a quick moment to thank everyone for attending last nights raid. We have now officially become just as good as 95% of the pugs on our server. We blasted through the first 5 bosses at a breakneck pace, and finally downed Rotface after a few tries. Also a special shoutout and thank you to Darthmax from Blacksheep Squadron for running with us this week.Congrats all, keep up the good work, and see you all next week.Screen of us after defeating Festergut.
Us after deating Rotface.

i'd like to take a moment to thank everyone for another smooth and fun run. It seems like just yesterday when we barely had enough members to run a heroic, and now, as you can see, our hard work and efforts have paid off. I feel we can only continue to do better and better, and before you all know it, the Kingslayer title will proudly be displayed above our heads.Downing Festergut is a huge step toward that goal.I should also mention, albeit a bit off topic, but the raid history will now correctly display guild attendance, as well as, loot that was gained. items that were disenchanted are not displayed.See you all next week.Gan

sterday, 8/22, marked the first ever full ICC guild run. We had a lot of fun, got some great loot and learned a great deal.i thought it appropriate to commemorate this auspicious occasion by posting a few screenshots. :)
We also have a wonderful screen shot of us defeating Deathbringer Saurfang!
Thank you all for your patience. Enjoy & see you next week! -
Welcome to Lords of the Sun! And for a few of you, welcome back!
Lords of the Sun has been resurrected, and will be going back to it's roots as a social leveling guild. Feel free to join us as we enjoy the game! Bring your alts along for the ride! When you do make it to the level cap at 80, heroic running is in your near future, and once you are geared you will be able to petition for admission into our sister raiding guild 'Phoenix Rising'.
A few things to look at on the site:
News - we will be communicating any guild related news and events right here on the main page. If you don't see it here, it ain't happening.
Roster - Check out your guildies! From here you can check out level, specs, professions. You can also go to their character page to check out their gear and do a wowheroes scan. If you are a crafter of any sort, you can list any pertinent crafted items on your profile so guildies know they can come to you for it!
Schedule - We will be scheduling all events here. If you would like to attend, you will sign up here and not on the in-game calendar. The events will be listed in game, but we will not be going by the rosters there if you happen to sign up.
Progression - Our progression section will be representing 'Phoenix Rising's progression, so you can keep tabs on how it is doing.
Forums - Get any and all info and questions answered here! Class tips, Crafting promos, Event feedback and the like will have their place here. Some other tidbits are:
- The Sun Room - the semi-weekly blog from our GM Vantius. Just a little place to come relax and for Van to ponder things in the WoW universe.
- Tuesday Morning Tidbits - Alarix will be scanning the web in the WoW community to find interesting blogs and/or class specifics guides that you might find helpful to your game experience and round the links up in one post for you to carouse during your Maintenance day boredom!
One of our members, Ganadoran, has received a Beta invite. We'll see if we can't get him to do a weekly update on Cataclysm as well!
Your officers are myself Alarix (Mnemosynea), Ganadoran (Ganadora), Keenyn (Autuym), and our GM Vantius (Vanderix). If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact on of us!
